Guests check in at four. It's eleven in the morning and the pool is cloudy, the spa is cold, and the pump is making a sound the cleaning guy says he's never heard before.
We get that call a lot from the rental blocks around the Village at Old Town, and we've learned to ask one question first: is anything actually broken, or did something just stop running? Those are two different mornings. A tripped GFCI, a timer that lost its trip dogs after a power blip, a filter so packed with blow sand off the Avenue 50 corridor that the pump can't move water — those are cheap and quick. A seized motor bearing at 11 a.m. on a Saturday is not.
That's the whole idea behind how we sell pool repair services in La Quinta. Find out what it is first. Price it in writing. Then fix it.
CV Pools has worked out of 52115 Avenida Bermudas since 1998. From that shop we run repairs across La Quinta and the valley — Sonrisa, Bella Vista, Rancho Santana, the Miles Avenue tracts, the Dune Palms corridor, the older homes strung along Washington Street. Most of the pools we work on we did not build. That's normal. Forty-year-old shells with three owners of history on them are our daily bread.
Below is every repair service we offer, what each one usually turns out to be, and what tends to move the price. It's long on purpose. Skip to whatever your pool is doing
CV Pools is a licensed swimming pool contractor at 52115 Avenida Bermudas, La Quinta, CA 92253, serving the Coachella Valley since 1998. Services cover pumps, filters, heaters, electrical, plumbing, automation, leak detection, cracks, tile, plaster, water features, spas and pool decks. A diagnostic visit is $150 and is credited toward an approved repair.

Here's the honest shape of it. Nine out of ten repair calls we run in La Quinta land on the equipment pad. The shell is usually fine. Something on that concrete slab in the side yard quit, and it quit for a reason the desert handed it. If you would like to see all of our swimming pool repair services you can click here.

Pumps die young here. A motor that would run fifteen years on the coast gives up around eight in La Quinta, because it sits in direct sun at 115° and runs long hours to hold chlorine the UV keeps burning off.
The noise tells us most of the story before we open anything. A metal screech is bearings, and that's a motor conversation. A gravel rattle, or a pump that keeps losing prime, is usually air sneaking in on the suction side — a dry lid o-ring, a low water level, a loose union. That's a cheap morning. If the motor is done and the unit is single-speed, California requires a variable-speed replacement, and the power savings usually eat the price difference inside two or three valley summers.
Write down the code on the display before you call. Really. That one detail regularly turns a long diagnostic into a short one, and short diagnostics cost less.
Swimming pool heater repair on Raypak, Pentair, Jandy and Hayward units means igniters, flame sensors, pressure switches, gas valves, thermal regulators and heat exchangers. Rodents nesting in a heater cabinet over the summer is not a rare finding it's a seasonal one.

Pool electrical repair is the part homeowners should never hand to a handyman. Bonding, GFCI protection, sub-panel work and light circuits are all life-safety items and all inspected work. We handle breakers that won't hold, corroded wire nuts inside junction boxes, failed bonding lugs at the pad, and conduit that got cut during someone else's landscaping job
Old mechanical timers are still running half the pools on the Washington Street corridor. Pool timer repair means new trip dogs, a fresh motor, or a swap to a digital timer that doesn't lose its schedule every time the power flickers.

When the app stops talking to the panel, it's usually one of three things: a dead load-center transformer, a failed relay, or an actuator that stripped its gears and now reports a valve position it isn't in. Swimming pool automation and controls work covers Pentair, Hayward and Jandy systems, plus wireless remotes and spa-side controls.

General plumbing repairs cover suction and return lines, skimmer throats, main drain lines, three-way valves that won't seat, backwash lines and equipment pad replumbs. When a pad has been added onto by four different companies over thirty years, replumbing the whole thing is often cheaper than chasing one leak through the spaghetti.
Do the bucket test first and save yourself a visit if it's evaporation — a quarter inch a day in a La Quinta August is just the desert taking its cut.
Real swimming pool leak detection and repairs means pressure testing each line, listening gear on pressurized plumbing, dye at suspected shell breaks, and a written finding that names the spot. We're looking for the actual break, not a guess with a jackhammer attached.

Not every crack is structural. A hairline in the plaster surface is cosmetic. A crack that runs through the shell, weeps, or shows a lip you can catch a fingernail on is a different job staple ties, epoxy injection, then a patch and a finish blend. Swimming pool crack repair on a shell that has moved more than once usually ends in a full resurface, and we'll say so up front rather than sell you two repairs.
Sheer descents, spillways, bubblers, rock waterfalls. Water feature repairs are mostly three problems: a dedicated pump that failed, a supply line packed with calcium until the flow went sideways, or a spillway lip that settled and now runs to one corner. Valley water builds scale fast, so the flow problem is the common one.

Hard water is the tax you pay for living here. Tap along your waterline with a knuckle. A solid sound with a white crust on top is a cleaning job. A hollow sound means water already got behind the tile, and cleaning it is money spent to delay the real fix.
Swimming pool tile repair covers loose or fallen waterline tile, step markers, spa spillway faces, raised bond beams and coping tile that lifted when the deck moved. We reset to sound substrate and match grout color rather than leaving you a stripe of fresh gray across an aged wall.

Tile replacement is the honest answer when more than a stretch or two has let go, or when the glaze itself is etched. Most owners do it during a replaster, since the waterline is already exposed.
Tile removal is its own line item on a remodel chipping the old band down to clean shell without cracking the bond beam. It's slow, loud work, and it's the step cheap bids leave out.

Plaster in the Coachella Valley lasts 8 to 12 years, not the 12 to 20 you'd get in a mild climate. Heat, hard water and heavy chemical demand grind it down. You'll know: sandpaper underfoot on the shallow step, gray blooms that won't brush out, thin spots where the gunite shows through.
Swimming pool resurfacing runs white plaster, quartz or mini-pebble. Pebble costs more and lasts longer.

Remodeling is what you want when the pool works fine and still looks like 1994. New waterline tile, new coping, a modern finish, better lighting, and an equipment pad that costs half as much to run. We price it in stages so you can see what each piece costs alone and cut what you don't want.
Desert decks move. Heat expansion, winter cool, soil that swells in parts of the valley. Deck construction covers new pours, cool deck surfacing, pavers, coping and crack and joint repair over sound concrete.

Holding a general contractor license matters on the work that doesn't stop at the coping — shade structures, outdoor kitchens, fire features, fencing and gates, drainage, and the gas and electrical runs feeding all of it. One license, one permit set, one person to call.
The first cool night in October, half the valley reaches for a spa nobody has touched since March. It usually has something to say.

Hot tub equipment repair covers heaters, circulation pumps, blowers, jets, topside control panels, control boards, flow switches and leaks at the shell joint. On attached gunite spas, add spillway plumbing and the shared actuator that moves water between pool and spa.
Hot tub equipment maintenance is the cheap version of the same visit — clean the filter, check the heater stack, test the flow switch, look at the bonding, and catch the failing part before it strands you in November.

Hot tub test soaking means we run the spa up to temperature and hold it, so a heater that quits at minute forty gets caught here instead of at your house with guests in the water.
The question under every first call is the same: is this a small number or a big one?
Asking doesn't commit you to anything.
The diagnostic visit is $150, flat, valley-wide, and the whole $150 comes off an approved repair. Estimates for remodels, resurfacing, tile, decking and new builds are free that's work you already know you want, so there's nothing to diagnose.
We charge for diagnosis because diagnosis is the job. Quoting a new pump takes thirty seconds. Working out that your pump is healthy and you have an air leak at a cracked skimmer throat is the part that saves you two thousand dollars on a pump you didn't need. We'd rather charge $150 and be right than show up free and sell you the expensive guess.
How a visit goes: you describe what the pool is doing in plain words → we book you, usually the same week → a licensed tech tests the pad, plumbing and water → you get written findings and a firm price → you approve, we fix it, the $150 comes off.
We also cover Indio, Coachella, Palm Desert, Indian Wells, Rancho Mirage, Bermuda Dunes, Thousand Palms, Cathedral City, Palm Springs, Desert Hot Springs and Thermal, plus scheduled routes into the High Desert.

Pumps, filters, heaters, electrical, timers, plumbing, automation and controls, leak detection, crack repair, water features, tile repair and cleaning, resurfacing, spa and hot tub equipment, and pool decks. If it's part of the pool, we work on it.
Different trades. Weekly cleaning service keeps the water right. Repair work on gas, electrical and structure is licensed contractor work. Most cleaning techs know exactly where that line sits and hand it off on purpose.
La Quinta and the central valley usually get same-week service, and we keep same-day slots for equipment failures if you call before noon. Outlying cities run on scheduled routes. We'd rather give you an honest Thursday than promise a Tuesday we can't keep.
Almost all of them. Most of what we repair was built by someone else, some of it forty years ago. You don't need a history with us to get on the schedule.
Yes, in full, on an approved repair. If the honest answer turns out to be "this doesn't need fixing yet," you've spent $150 to stop worrying, and we'll tell you that instead of finding something.
Depends on the noise. A screech is usually bearings, which is a motor. A rattle or lost prime is usually air on the suction side, which is often an o-ring or a fitting. We can normally narrow it on the phone before anyone drives out.
A quarter inch a day in a La Quinta August is evaporation, and there's nothing to fix. Set a bucket on the second step, match the water levels inside and out, mark both, and check in 24 hours with the equipment running normally. If the pool dropped noticeably more than the bucket, that's a leak worth finding — a slow one also washes soil out from under your deck.
Often yes. Bead blasting takes the calcium off and leaves the tile intact. Tap it first — hollow means water got behind it and cleaning only postpones the replacement. We'll tell you which one you have before you pay for either.
Usually nothing changed it just sat. Rodents get into heater cabinets over the summer, flow switches stick, and filters that were never cleaned in March choke the circulation the heater needs to fire. That's a standard October call here.
Like-for-like equipment swaps generally don't. Structural work, gas line changes, electrical panel work and anything that changes the barrier usually does. We pull what's needed.
