Revitalize Your Pool: A Step-by-Step Guide to Pool Resurfacing and Re-plastering

Pool Resurfacing and Re-plastering in La Quinta and surrounding areas

Owning a pool is a source of endless enjoyment, offering a perfect spot for relaxation, exercise, and social gatherings. However, over time, the surfaces of even the most well-maintained pools can show signs of wear and tear. Cracks, discoloration, rough textures, and water leaks can diminish the appeal and safety of your pool. When this happens, it’s time to consider pool resurfacing and re-plastering. These essential services not only restore the beauty of your pool but also ensure its structural integrity and longevity.

In this article, we’ll take you through the step-by-step process of pool resurfacing and re-plastering, highlighting the importance of each stage and why it’s crucial to work with experienced professionals. We’ll also encourage you to take advantage of our free consultation service to get a personalized quote for your pool resurfacing project.

What Is Pool Resurfacing and Re-plastering?

Pool resurfacing and re-plastering are processes that involve renewing the interior surface of your pool. Over time, the plaster that lines the pool can become rough, cracked, or stained, making it uncomfortable to swim in and less visually appealing. Resurfacing is the process of removing the old surface and applying a new one, while re-plastering specifically refers to replacing the plaster layer.

These processes are vital for maintaining the health and safety of your pool. Not only do they improve the appearance, but they also prevent leaks and other issues that can lead to costly repairs down the line.

Step-by-Step Process of Pool Resurfacing and Re-plastering

1. Initial Consultation and Inspection

The first step in any pool resurfacing or re-plastering project is the initial consultation and inspection. During this phase, we meet with you to discuss your needs, preferences, and budget. Our team will conduct a thorough inspection of your pool to assess its current condition, identifying any issues that need to be addressed during the resurfacing process.

This consultation is also an opportunity for you to explore different resurfacing options, such as various plaster finishes, aggregate finishes like pebble or quartz, or even more luxurious options like glass bead finishes. We’ll provide you with detailed information on the pros and cons of each option, helping you make an informed decision

This consultation is also an opportunity for you to explore different resurfacing options, such as various plaster finishes, aggregate finishes like pebble or quartz, or even more luxurious options like glass bead finishes. We’ll provide you with detailed information on the pros and cons of each option, helping you make an informed decision.

2. Drain the Pool

Once the consultation is complete and you’ve decided on the best resurfacing option for your pool, the next step is to drain the pool. This is necessary to ensure that the work area is dry and accessible. Draining the pool is a straightforward process, but it requires careful attention to avoid damage to the pool structure or surrounding area.

Our team will use high-capacity pumps to efficiently remove the water, taking care to comply with local regulations regarding water disposal. Once the pool is empty, we’ll allow it to dry thoroughly before proceeding with the next steps.

3. Remove the Old Surface

With the pool drained and dried, we begin the process of removing the old surface. This involves chipping away the existing plaster or other materials to expose the pool shell. The removal process is done carefully to avoid damaging the underlying structure of the pool.

For pools with multiple layers of old plaster or more complex finishes, the removal process can be more involved, requiring specialized tools and techniques. Our team is experienced in handling all types of pool surfaces, ensuring that the old material is removed efficiently and safely.

4. Surface Preparation

After the old surface is removed, the next step is to prepare the pool for the new surface. This involves thoroughly cleaning the exposed pool shell to remove any debris, dust, or remnants of the old material. We’ll also repair any cracks, holes, or other imperfections in the pool shell to ensure a smooth and even surface for the new plaster.

Surface preparation is a critical step in the resurfacing process, as it ensures that the new plaster adheres properly and provides a durable, long-lasting finish. Any issues that are not addressed during this phase can lead to problems later on, so we take the time to do it right.

5. Plaster Application

With the bonding agent in place, we move on to the actual plaster application. Depending on your choice, we’ll apply a traditional plaster finish, an aggregate finish (such as pebble or quartz), or a more luxurious option like glass beads. The plaster is mixed on-site to ensure the right consistency and color, then applied to the pool surface using specialized tools and techniques.

The plaster is applied in multiple layers to achieve the desired thickness and finish. Our team works meticulously to ensure that the surface is smooth, even, and free of imperfections. This stage requires skill and experience to achieve a flawless finish that not only looks beautiful but also provides a comfortable swimming experience.

6. Curing Process

Once the plaster is applied, it needs time to cure properly. Curing is a critical phase in the resurfacing process, as it allows the plaster to harden and develop its full strength. During this time, the pool is gradually filled with water to help the plaster cure evenly and prevent cracking.

The curing process typically takes several days, during which it’s important to monitor the water chemistry closely. Our team will provide you with detailed instructions on how to care for your pool during this period, including guidelines on water testing, chemical balancing, and brushing the pool surface to remove any plaster dust.

7. Final Inspection and Cleanup

After the plaster has fully cured, we’ll conduct a final inspection to ensure that the resurfacing work meets our high standards of quality. We’ll check for any imperfections, rough spots, or other issues that may need to be addressed before you start using your pool again.

Once the final inspection is complete, we’ll clean up the work area, remove any debris, and ensure that your pool and surrounding area are left in pristine condition. We’ll also provide you with guidance on how to maintain your new pool surface to keep it looking great for years to come.

8. Enjoy Your Newly Resurfaced Pool

With the resurfacing and re-plastering process complete, it’s time to enjoy your newly revitalized pool! Whether you’re swimming laps, relaxing with family, or hosting a pool party, your pool will not only look stunning but will also provide a smooth, comfortable, and safe swimming experience.

A freshly resurfaced pool can dramatically enhance the appearance and value of your property, making it a worthwhile investment in both aesthetics and functionality.

Wow, wow, wow!!!! All I can say. We filed a claim with AHS and they sent someone out (not Marcos). It was a JOKE. Guy didn’t even look at anything. Have it on video. I called AHS back and told them I wanted someone else out here. They sent Marcos!!!! His guy Juan came out and was amazing. He spent quite a bit of time to isolate the problem. THEN, he brought Marcos back out just to confirm. First, it was complete obvious that the salt system board was fried. There was a char mark. Then they isolated the problem with the heater. It was a minor fix, (not covered but totally ok to spend to fix). On the Salt System, they are replacing the board, going to be back out to replace and insure the system works. On the heater, the didn’t leave until they made sure (with my wife present) that it was working!!!! Marcos is our guy going forward! Do yourself a favor….if you have an AHS Claim, DEMAND MARCOS and CV Pools!!!!!!!!

We are very happy with our recent visit by Marcos from C.V. Pool Services! We had questions with our combination pool/spa automation system, and wanted to have the system looked at. Marcos answered all of our questions, and then provided us options on how our automation system was setup vs. how we were trying to operate it. He then was able to connect our pump to our automation system and confirm that everything was working for a very fair price and within the same morning. Marcos was very friendly and professional, and we will definitely be contacting C.V. Pool Services for future needs!

After being railroaded by my home warranty company and other pool companies to get absolutely now where. Marco came out diagnosed the issue and fixed it that week. I had been quoted $3,000 by another company to fix my control panel, another Company said nothing was wrong with it and then Marco diagnosed on the spot, had me on text, gave me a quote of $791 on the spot. I couldn't be happier. Not only did he fix that issue he also fixed the issue with my control valves that were installed backwards by the pool company that installed my new heater in Feb 2019. My gas bill was over $600 and the company that installed it once again said nothing was wrong. Well it was, Marco fixed the problem on the spot.

You want professional and sincere repair or service? Call C.V. Pools. The service, and consideration to keep costs down simply can not be beat. I was a first time pool owner, and I had 2 previous pool service companies leave my pool in a state of unbalanced chemicals, and a replacement part being installed wrong. I called Marcos, the owner/operator and he took my call after hours on the weekend while camping with his family, and troubleshooted the problem over the phone with me. Marcos came out first thing when he returned, pumped my pool out, installed part correctly, and had it cleared up in a matter of days looking crystal clear. I had been dealing with it for over 3 weeks before C.V. Pools came out. Marcos kept me well informed, kept cost at literally half of what I had previously paid somebody, and was very knowledgeable, honest and friendly. I could not be happier with the repair work or the cost involved. I highly recommend this company for work. I continue to use thier monthly services. I live in a high wind area, with an abundance of sand being dumped into my pool. Javiar keeps my pool in top shape always.
